Tantrum Thrower
/My desire in sharing our story is to point you to hope, no matter your situation. You have way more power on your side than you think. And you will see the delivering power of God if you don’t give up or give in. This brings me to identifying THE ultimate tantrum thrower in your family!
Here’s an analogy - the devil throws temper tantrums like a toddler. Toddler tantrums are a means of getting us parents to give in. It’s relentless. It’s embarrassing. It’s LOUD and distracting. The enemy throws tantrums too. His #1 strategy is to get you to give up and give in. I’ve resolved within myself…we don’t give in to tantrums. From the enemy or from our kids!
I had a saying when my kids were toddlers. Never let them win. I have the SAME saying with the enemy. NEVER LET HIM WIN.
Here’s an example of a tantrum the enemy threw in the Bible. Remember the story of the wind and waves that arose out of NOWHERE? I encourage you to read about it in Luke 8:22-39. Tantrum. Jesus was traveling to a village where an impactful ministry opportunity awaited. The madman of Gadara, full of many demons. That boat containing Jesus and the disciples, was an enormous threat to the enemy and the enemy tries to stop threats. When the enemy feels greatly threatened, he may send a great big storm…but guess what? Pushing through that storm results in BREAKTHROUGH, damaging the kingdom of darkness.
Let me add here that a family serving God is a BIG threat to the enemy. His mission is to stop you. You will see him throw “tantrums” in your life that are loud and relentless. But remember, we don’t give in to tantrums.
Fast forward in the story, Jesus REBUKED the storm and it ceased, asking the disciples where was their faith? This is a cue for us - we are to use our faith and take authority over the storms that rise against us out of nowhere too!
When they made it through the storm, to their destination...Jesus displayed the authoritive power of God and set the madman free of all the tormenting demons. They had to obey him, they had no power against the power of Jesus. In fact, Luke 8:31-32 is awesome. I love it because it speaks to the fact that the demons knew they didn’t have a chance, they kept begging Jesus not to throw them in the bottomless pit, and begged some more to let them enter the pigs. They had to have permission to enter the pigs. Only those with NO authority have to ask permission. (like children and parents) The enemy has NO authority over the believer. None.
You have that kind of power and authority on your side. No other power is a match against it. It HAS to bow at the name of Jesus.
That man’s situation seemed impossible, he was mentally crazy, but Jesus broke through the bondage and he became in his right mind. That man had been set free completely and “proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.” City changer. No wonder the enemy threw a tantrum.
Another thing to point out before we move on, the demons had to have permission. Let’s not overlook this. What areas are we giving him permission to operate? Agreeing with his thoughts against us gives him permission. Giving up and giving in allows him permission. We are the ones with the authority. It’s imperative to be in the Word. When you know the truth, it will set you free, which means you will be able to use the authority of the Truth as your sword to resist and stand against the enemy!
James 4:7
Resist the devil, and he WILL flee from you.
Ephesians 6:13-17
Put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil, and having done all to stand. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness...hold up the shield of faith to STOP the fiery arrows of the devil.
The attack against my daughter and my family seemed to come out of NOWHERE, just like the Bible story. But we have clung to the truth, no weapon formed against us will prosper in Jesus’ name. It can’t. The enemy is like the little cowardly old man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz - powerless against our God who saves, rescues, delivers and sets free. Powerless.
I can tell you this, the enemy overplayed his move when he attacked our family. He will pay. He has underestimated the repercussion - as a family, we will do damage to the kingdom of darkness, LIGHT overcomes the dark.
We refuse to give in to the storms/tantrums that the enemy throws our way!
